INTRODUCTION Evidently, you have already taken the first steps towards giving and receiving massage. To enjoy the skills and exercises without rushing and to arrange as much home practise as possible would be an excellent idea.
Massage has been practised on all continents over many years, and has stood the test of time. Those who excel in this art will be much sought after, and massage is most certainly an art. Even with all the techniques, not everyone will get to master this art form.
Opportunities for qualified people have increased dramatically, as more people accept the need for Physical / Tactile Therapies. However, work opportunities will always exist but will never be guaranteed by the Melbourne College of Professional Therapists (MCPT).
There are a lot of good and highly qualified therapists working, and also a lot of indifferent ones and actually some who are quite bad, but there are not too many who excel in this art of relaxation for they have not grasped the mind, body and spirit concept. In Clinical / Remedial Massage, further study is required.
To develop this intuitive feel and hands, which seem to have an instinct of where they should be and how firm they should press, is a part of the aim of this course. Once this wholistic approach is achieved, then the healing will soon follow.
MASSAGE Massage is often dismissed as having only superficial value: a general treatment to relax tight muscles and to give temporary relief from emotional tension. It can, however, be of a more fundamental benefit, both to the giver and the receiver.
Massage is a way to rediscover the body through touch. This physical contact is important for learning and change; it often takes someone else's energy and touch to bring problems to the surface. The first step in freeing emotional or muscular tension is to make us more aware of its existence.
Massage is the oldest known Healing Art. It pre-dates all orthodox medicine and all other complementary therapies. Massage is unique in being both a healing technique and an instinctive means of expression between humans. We all use touch without thinking of it as `massage'. Touch is an effective means of reducing a pain, such as headache, back, neck and general body pain or even just giving comfort.
Massage will often relieve the discomfort of physical tension and in turn will release emotional stresses in many ways. The Loving touch is best seen in the soothing caresses of a mother with her baby. For the newborn, such contact is as essential as food and warmth.
The benefits of quality touch are not restricted to the very young, however. Due to its phenomenal ability to redress the ravages of stress on the body, massage has become the most popular of the complementary therapies.
People everywhere are taking up massage to offer to their partners, loved one's, friends and family and even to train to professional standard. This Certificate Massage Therapy Course is a wonderful way of learning about the body; it's function and the understanding of how you work as a human machine.
You will learn the Massage techniques of Relaxation and its benefits and the wonderful world of expression through human and body contact. In our advanced courses you will learn the techniques to treat and manage physical health conditons.
